Student diary in Boston, Aug 23

I saw many beautiful buildings at Harvard University. I also interviewed several people at the university museum. In Japan, I can actively talk to strangers, but in the U.S., I found it very difficult to do so in English. While speaking here in Boston, I realized that I had lost the confidence and courage to talk to people from other countries. That’s why I want to be able to speak confidently to anyone—to become a great leader.

My favorite exhibition at the Harvard Museum was about human evolution. I like history, so I really enjoyed looking at the bones of early human ancestors and reading the descriptions of how they changed over time. The exhibition was very exciting.

In the afternoon, we spent time asking Harvard students questions and walking around campus with them. From their stories, I learned that Harvard is a diverse and welcoming place for people from all backgrounds. It also had a lot of nature and felt very comfortable to walk around.

At night, we watched a musical, which helped me relax and forget about my tiredness. However, there were many words I didn’t understand, so I want to study more English and improve my listening skills.
