Student diary in Boston, Aug 22 ④
This morning, we did some island activities. We took a ferry to get to Thompson Island, which was a very memorable experience because it was my first time there. When we arrived on the island, there were lots of large birds. It was interesting to see so many wild and unfamiliar creatures that I don’t usually see in Japan.
During the leadership activity, I realized that a task can’t be completed by one person alone—it takes teamwork and cooperation. At the same time, I felt it’s really important to have someone who can encourage others and bring the group together.
In the afternoon GPI session, I raised my hand and gave a presentation in front of the whole class for the first time. I was nervous, so I could only give a simple presentation, but it was still a big step for me. My next goal is to give at least two presentations a day.
I also learned that important parts of communication include clearly expressing your main point and having the confidence to share a different opinion. I want to make good use of what I learned when I return to Japan.
