Student diary in Boston, Aug 24 ①

Today’s GPI session involved a lot of cooperation within our group, so I really enjoyed it.
I was able to participate actively in the conversation. When I didn’t understand something in English, my group members kindly explained it to me. That made me realize the importance of trying to express my thoughts using different words when I don’t know a specific one.

Also, when someone in our group didn’t present, I thought it would be nice if we could support each other and help everyone share their ideas. I feel like I can do that in the remaining three days.

In the afternoon, I learned a lot by talking with high school students from Boston.
When I asked them questions, I realized that we often share the same opinions, even though we come from different countries. I was surprised by how quickly they responded, and I felt that they had strong opinions and confidence.
By interacting with students from other countries, I gained new insights. I’m really glad I had this opportunity. From now on, I want to actively listen to other people’s opinions too.

During the reflection session, I had two thoughts about how I can contribute better to group activities.
Since I’m not confident in English, I tend to hesitate and overthink when I prepare to speak. But I decided to just give it a try, and express myself using the English I already know.

Also, I realized that when someone shares an idea in the group, I don’t have to come up with everything by myself. Instead, we can work together to find the best answer as a team.
