Student diary in Boston, Aug 21 ③
This was our second day in Boston. Today, we met Erin, Miki, and three group leaders. Their English was fluent and beautiful, and they were all so kind and funny. One thing that surprised me was when Erin said she was shy.
She seemed like an outgoing person because she spoke clearly and confidently. It made me think that the idea of “shyness” might be different in Japan and America. I also felt that I should express my opinions more clearly and speak more proactively.
At MIT, we got to see some of the world’s top research facilities. I realized that universities like MIT are looking for people who are active and ambitious.
After we returned to the hostel, we had a reflection session. Erin told us that setting goals each day is important. My goal for tomorrow is not just to have opinions, but to actually put them into words.
Today, many students spoke English and shared their thoughts clearly, but I wasn’t able to do it well. I only have five days left until the final presentation. I’ll do my best.
