Student diary in Boston, Aug 21 ②

I had breakfast, got on the train, and went to the study center. We discussed many things there. What impressed me the most was the talk about “VTS” (Visual Thinking Strategy).

In groups, we talked about how the paintings looked and what kind of images or messages they might have. We also discussed what issues the photos might represent. It was really interesting to learn that everyone sees things differently.

I’m not very good at expressing my opinions, but I tried to speak up in my group. During the group discussions, though, I couldn’t say much because I wasn’t confident in my English. That was really frustrating. I know it’s hard to improve quickly, but I want to get used to it by the end of this training.

We also visited MIT. Before today, I had only thought of MIT as a science-focused university. But a student there told us that MIT students take everything seriously, and that some of them get great grades even in completely different fields. That really inspired me. I felt that I also want to go to a university where I can work hard not only in my major but also in other areas too.
