In the science activity, we learned about cancer. Since the lesson was in English and I’m not very good at medicine, I couldn’t understand much at first. But later, the teacher explained it to me in a simpler way, and I was able to understand a little. The experiment made it easier to understand how anti-cancer drugs work, which I found very helpful.
I was really nervous during the final presentation. I was worried about whether I could speak without looking at my notes, and whether I could answer Erin’s questions properly. When it was finally my turn to present, it felt like it was over in an instant. I felt frustrated because I couldn’t say some of the things I had been able to say during practice. Still, everyone listened to me while nodding, and that made it easier to speak.
I learned that for a speaker, it really helps when the audience shows some reaction, rather than staying silent. I’m also glad that I had the chance to think about what kind of leader I want to become, and how I can apply what I’ve learned during these five days. I’d like to actually put it into practice after I return to Japan.
