Student diary in Boston, Aug 26 ②
In the morning, I went to MIT and learned about cancer. It was interesting because the topic of mutation, which I had studied in my biology class, came up. While looking around MIT, I saw real research rooms, storage areas, and posters, and I started to think that becoming a researcher might be fun. It really made me start thinking about my future. We had a quiz on what we learned today, and I was happy to come in first place. Since I study science and biology in high school, it felt great to be able to apply what I had learned.
In the afternoon, we had our final presentation. From the beginning of this program, my personal goal was to be the first to speak—so I was glad that I got to present first. I had practiced, but I forgot some of the content and couldn’t speak as well as I wanted. I felt really frustrated. Next time, I want to be able to express myself in my own words, even when I’m nervous.
Tomorrow is our sightseeing day, so I want to enjoy it as much as I can—and make sure to properly say thank you to Audrey.
