Student diary in Boston, Aug 24 ③

In the morning, we focused especially on AI-related issues. Before interviewing high school students, we tried to define the topic ourselves. However, things didn’t go as planned, and I wasn’t able to share my ideas well with my group members. One thing I realized I need to improve is expressing my thoughts more intuitively, as soon as they come to mind. I’ve never thought so deeply about AI before, so I want to work hard to overcome those awkward silent moments.

In the afternoon, we interacted with high school students in Boston. They gave us some ideas—for example, how AI can be used and what AI can provide. After combining their ideas with mine, I thought that we shouldn’t rely on AI for everything. It’s better to use it just to help us understand things, like giving examples. Also, we should always check whether we’re using AI appropriately, and we should never let AI do all the work for us. By sharing opinions with them, we were able to think more deeply about the topic.

After the activity, we had a reflection session. We made some strategies for tomorrow’s GPI session.
Here are the strategies we came up with:
•    Show more reactions
•    Don’t worry too much about grammar
•    Clearly agree or disagree
•    Say my opinion before others
•    Be honest when I don’t understand what’s being said
