Student diary in Boston, Aug 26 ④
I learned many things from today’s presentation.
First, even though I was really nervous, I was able to share my thoughts in my own words. That gave me a little more confidence. At the beginning of my presentation, I couldn’t speak very well because of my nerves. But in the middle, I started to speak louder and use gestures, and I was able to express myself better.
Second, I was really impressed by other members who hardly looked at their scripts. They remembered the main points and spoke in their own English. I wasn’t able to do that well. If I didn’t have a script, I would panic and forget everything. But I felt that their message was more powerful and easier to understand because they weren’t reading from a script.
Third, I was reminded of how important giving and receiving feedback is. I realized that it’s hard to share your opinion and have others understand and respond to it. When I received feedback, I was able to see myself more objectively. It helped me recognize both my strengths and the areas I need to improve. From now on, I want to practice giving feedback to others, especially during small group discussions.
